چکیده
Abstract Fucoxanthin, a natural xanthophyll carotenoid, is generally found in brown seaweeds, such as Sargassum duplicatum, Turbinaria turbinata, Padina australis, Undaria pinnatifida, and Laminaria japonica; microalga or diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum, Isochrysis galbana Odontella sinensis. Fucoxanthin marine exhibiting several anticancer activities, activities against leukemia, prostate, cervical, hepatoma, colon, lung cancer. Cancer disease frequently considered to be of the cell cycle. Then, apoptosis dominant form death with particular relevance cancer, characterized initially by series stereotypic morphological changes, condensation fragmentation chromatin shrinking cytoplasmic (cell shrinkage), decrease volume alterations plasma membrane, mitochondrial depolarization, membrane blebbing, packaging into apoptotic bodies formation bodies. In general, there are four techniques for detection apoptosis, namely: (1). changes analysis using an inverted microscope, scanning electron fluorescent (2) gel electrophoresis, (3). immunohistochemistry ( e.g ., caspase-3), (4) flow cytometry.

Cancer Preventive Efficacy of Marine Carotenoid Fucoxanthin: Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis
Epidemiological investigations have shown that overcoming the risk of cancer is related to the consumption of green vegetables and fruits. Many compounds from different origins, such as terrestrial plants and marine and microbial sources, have been reported to have therapeutic effects of which marine sources are the most important because the diversity of marine life is more varied than other s...
متن کاملA Review on Biosynthesis, Health Benefits and Extraction Methods of Fucoxanthin, Particular Marine Carotenoids in Algae
Fucoxanthin, an allenic carotenoid, is abundant in macro and microalgae as a component of the light-harvesting complex for photosynthesis and photo protection. This carotenoid has shown important pharmaceutical bioactivity, exerting antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, anti-photoaging, anti-angiogenic, and anti-metastatic effects on a variety of biological models. This caroten...
متن کاملAnti-Obesity Activity of the Marine Carotenoid Fucoxanthin
Nowadays the global tendency towards physical activity reduction and an augmented dietary intake of fats, sugars and calories is leading to a growing propagation of overweight, obesity and lifestyle-related diseases, such diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome. In particular, obesity, characterized as a state of low-level inflammation, is a powerful determinant both in the ...
متن کاملFucoxanthin, a Marine Carotenoid, Reverses Scopolamine-Induced Cognitive Impairments in Mice and Inhibits Acetylcholinesterase in Vitro.
Fucoxanthin, a natural carotenoid abundant in edible brown seaweeds, has been shown to possess anti-cancer, anti-oxidant, anti-obesity and anti-diabetic effects. In this study, we report for the first time that fucoxanthin effectively protects against scopolamine-induced cognitive impairments in mice. In addition, fucoxanthin significantly reversed the scopolamine-induced increase of acetylchol...
متن کاملA marine carotenoid, fucoxanthin, induces regulatory T cells and inhibits Th17 cell differentiation in vitro.
Fucoxanthin is a non-provitamin A carotenoid contained in brown seaweeds. We found that it suppressed interleukin-17 secretion from CD4(+) T cells under IL-17-producing T (Th17) cell development conditions. By evaluating T cell differentiation in vitro, fucoxanthin and its metabolite fucoxanthinol inhibited T cell differentiation into Th17 cells. This suggests that fucoxanthin can improve infla...
